Are we a fit

Anorexia Nervosa

Anorexia nervosa (AN) is typically characterized by weight loss, difficulties maintaining an appropriate body weight for age and other genetic considerations, as well as significant distress around body image. Individuals with anorexia generally present with a restriction of intake and a rigidity around food consumption. Individuals with anorexia can also engage in binging and purging type behaviors which include but aren’t limited to self-induced vomiting, use of diuretics and laxatives, and compulsive exercise.

Contrary to some media and societal portrayals, anorexia affects individuals of all ages, races, ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations.

The disorder typically presents during mid adolescence, but can present later in life as well. It’s important to know that anorexia cannot be diagnosed by simply looking at a person and their body type–individuals in all body types can be diagnosed with anorexia.

Inner Haven Wellness extends a helping hand to you or someone you know  battling anorexia nervosa.  We offer a tailored local anorexia treatment program that embraces empathy and understanding, guiding you towards a path of healing and recovery.

Who We Are

Bulimia Nervosa

Bulimia nervosa (BN) is typically characterized by a cycle of binging and purging, on average, at least once a week for three months. Binges are considered eating, in a short period  of time, an amount of food that is larger than what most people would eat during the same period of time and under similar circumstances. Binges can also be defined by a lack of control over one’s eating during the episode.

Purging is considered any recurrent inappropriate behaviors that are used to attempt to control weight gain from the binge episode, and can include fasting, self-induced vomiting, obsessive exercise, and the use of laxatives and diuretics. Individuals with bulimia’s self-evaluation can be unduly influenced by body, weight, shape, and size.

This disorder typically presents during later adolescence/early adulthood, and just as with anorexia, can affect individuals of all ages, genders, races, ethnicities, and sexual orientation, and cannot be defined by simply looking at a person.

If you or someone you know is grappling with bulimia nervosa, Inner Haven Wellness is here for you. We provide a local bulimia treatment program that fosters a sense of belonging, expertly designed to address the challenges and promote lasting transformation.

Binge Eating Disorder

Binge eating disorder (BED), as with bulimia nervosa, is characterized by binge eating behaviors and a sense of loss of control over one’s eating during the episode. There is typically no purge behavior after the binge episode.

BED was finally recognized during the release of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual- 5 in 2013. BED affects more individuals than any other eating disorder. Just like all other eating disorders mentioned above, it can affect anyone at any time.

At Inner Haven Wellness, we recognize the immense impact of binge eating disorders on individuals and those close to them. Through our local binge eating disorder treatment program, you or someone you know can find solace and support on the road to recovery, as our dedicated team offers personalized care and therapeutic interventions.

Mood Disorders

A mood disorder primarily affects your emotional state. It’s a disorder where you experience persistent and often intense emotions (most commonly sadness/depression) to the point that it impacts your daily functioning. Some mood disorders involve other persistent emotions, such as anger and irritability.

As humans, it can be normal to experience a wide range of emotions, sometimes  very intensely, depending on the situation, but for a mood disorder to be diagnosed, symptoms must be present for several weeks or longer. The Mood Disorder can affect your behavior and your ability to perform daily tasks, such as work or school. Physical symptoms can include loss of appetite and decreased physical energy.

The most common mood disorders are depression and bipolar disorder.

Inner Haven Wellness understands the complexities surrounding co-occurring mood disorders, and our local treatment program offers help for you or someone you know, fostering a nurturing environment where healing and hope can flourish.
